Williams Lake RCMP seize drugs, firearms during search warrant, 2 arrested

RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence on Smith Street

Two people were arrested in Williams Lake after drugs, illegal cigarettes, firearms, ammunition and cash were seized at a residence on Smith Street in the city. 

Williams Lake RCMP along with the Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit (CC-CRU) executed a search warrant at the location on Thursday, June 5. 

The CC-CRU had been deployed in Williams Lake to assist with criminal enforcement actions in local crime.

"On June 4, 2025, during proactive enforcement, police observed a vehicle whose occupants appeared to be actively trafficking in drugs," noted a news release from Madonna Saunderson, North District NCO media relations. 

Police obtained a search warrant and when the home was searched, they located suspected cocaine, magic mushrooms, fentanyl, methamphetamine, different types of pills, several cartons of suspected illegal cigarettes, firearms, ammunition, approximately $5000 in cash as well other items related to the drug trafficking.

While one adult man was arrested in the residence, police said, a second person, believed to be a resident of the home, arrived during the search, attempted to flee but was arrested without incident.

"During the arrest police found suspected cocaine in a sealed package on his person.

Insp. Rob Lake, OIC Williams Lake RCMP said the RCMP are committed to proactive, targeted enforcement of the illegal drug trade in our city with public safety being our top priority.

The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time, more details may be released as they become available, noted the release.
