A Williams Lake man associated with a residence on Western Avenue which was the focus of a police operation this week is currently in custody.
Travis Storoschuk had been released on conditions and was set to appear in court on Nov. 18, 2024 for multiple counts of breach of an undertaking, possession of a firearm without a licence and/or registration, storage of firearm contrary to regulation, assault causing bodily harm, breach of a release order, attempting to pervert/defeat/obstruct justice, and disobeying a court order.
Storoschuk instead appeared on Saturday, Nov. 16, according to completed court records, on an application to revoke bail. A new court appearance date has not yet been set at the time of writing.
This is the second time the residence on Western Avenue was the focus of an RCMP operation, after one on August 31 which saw Storoschuk taken into custody without incident. At the time, Storoschuk had been wanted on three charges of breach of undertaking.
Storoschuk has been released three times in 2024, once in August, once in September, and on November 1, according to online court records.
RCMP did not link Storoschuk to the latest police operation at the Western Avenue residence and said on Monday the operation had been safely resolved with no further concern for public safety.
"I cannot comment on an on-going police investigation, however, I can confirm that police responded and took all appropriate measures, based on the information received," said Staff Sgt. Brad McKinnon in an emailed response.
