Williams Lake hospital auxiliary funds 3 patient care items

Proceeds from the volunteer run hospital auxiliary gift shop are contributed every year

Once again the Cariboo Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Society has proved itself as the little engine that could.

Every year the auxiliary receives a wish list for patient care from Cariboo Memorial Hospital and long-term care staff and proceeds raised in the auxiliary-run hospital gift shop go toward purchasing some items on the list.

This year they have purchased three items, said auxiliary member Marg Bublitz.

The first item is a chest tube mannequin used for staff training that cost $3,342.

A sit-to-stand powered recliner for the oncology department, worth $10,063.00, is the second item.

Thirdly, the auxiliary put $20,000 toward the purchase of a fluent system machine for the obstetrics department.

On Tuesday, Nov. 26 the society is holding a bake sale in the front lobby of Cariboo Memorial Hospital that begins 9 a.m.

"We have cookies on a stick that are beautifully decorated," said Bublitz. "We usually do one a year. The staff in the hospital and Deni House support us and we usually earn over $1,000."
