A property on Lakeview Crescent in Williams Lake is the subject of a public hearing Dec. 3.

A public hearing for a property on Lakeview Crescent will take place at 6 p.m., prior to the Tuesday, Dec. 3 city council meeting.

As part of the process for the potential construction of a four-story, 14-unit residential apartment building adjacent to the Ramada Hotel, a public hearing will be held at city hall for people to ask questions.

The subject property at 1138 Lakeview Crescent is currently on the Official Community Plan (OCP) as commercial - highway and would be changed to residential - multi-family. The property has already had some tree-clearing take place and is currently being used as single family residential.

Some concerns expressed by neighbouring property owners included the building height blocking sight lines of residents behind the property, retention of existing trees to maintain shade and privacy, water capacity and traffic at the intersections of Broadway Avenue and Lakeview Crescent.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MOTI) did not have any comments or concerns in regards to traffic or the nearby intersections to the development. Both MOTI and the Cariboo Regional District supported the development.

The zoning classification is currently for residential -1 and the application would change it to medium density multi-family residential (R-4) zone.

After the hearing, council will have the chance to vote on passing the third reading of the proposed changes to allow the development to proceed during the regular council meeting.
