Williams Lake area receives snow overnight

DriveBC says roads in the region have compact snow, slippery sections and blowing snow in some areas

As predicted, the Williams Lake area received snow overnight.

The Tribune's measurement in one neighbourhood on South Lakeside indicated eight centimetres of the new white stuff was on the ground Wednesday, Dec. 18.

Snow removal crews were out early clearing roads for commuters.

Walking the dog indicated there were icy patches underneath the snow.

DriveBC notes there are snow-packed, slippery and blowing snow sections all along Highway 97 and Highway 20 in the Cariboo Chilcotin.

It is presently -8ºC in Williams Lake with a low of -4ºC in the forecast overnight, the Environment Canada and Climate Change website indicates.

Looking ahead,  the temperatures are predicted to be as high as 7ºC by Saturday, Dec. 21, which means the snow could possibly all be gone by then.

We'd love to see your snow photographs to add to this article as the day unfolds.
