UPDATE: Power restored for thousands of Lake Country residents

BC Hydro investigating cause of outages impacting 8,634 properties

Several power outages have hit Lake Country residents Friday morning.

BC Hydro reports power was cut off shortly before 11 a.m. in four different areas, impacting 8,634 properties.

The largest outage impacts 3,431 properties west of Broadwater Road, stretching onto Westside Road.

There are 2,244 residents without power east of Okanagan Centre Road.

East of Pelmewash Parkway there are 1,760 properties without power.

Another 1,199 don't have power east of Kelwin Road and north of Commonwealth Road.

A cause of the outages is unknown at this time and a crew is on its way.

Updates will be posted here as they become available.

An earlier outage in Vernon had 2,665 properties without power between 5:45 a.m. and 7:45 Friday morning. Power was restored but the cause is unknown.
