A repair to a water main break on the Larkin Local Area Service system resulted in water being shut off to residences west of Rogers Foods May 2, followed by a boil water advisory.

UPDATE June 9:

Spallumcheen residents can safely drink from the taps again.

The boil water advisory was put in effect following a water repair May 2.

ORIGINAL May 2:

Residents of a select section of the Township of Spallumcheen are being asked to prepare for an eight-hour water interruption.

Those who live on Larkin Cross Road west of Rogers Foods and connected to the Larkin Local Area Service will have their water turned off Friday, May 2, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. so crews can fix a water main break in the system.

When the repair is finished, the system will be flushed.

It's recommended customers run a cold water tap until the liquid runs clear.

"Please note that there will be traffic control in place on Larkin Cross Road with alternating single lane traffic and we would kindly ask that you adhere to all personnel and signage in place," said the township.

Please contact the township public works department at (250) 546-3013 if you have any questions.
