A wildfire the size of five football fields that was burning about 25 kilometres north of Revelstoke off its namesake lake was doused over the weekend, BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) reports.
The cause remained undetermined for this initially 0.009-hectare and eventually four-hectare fire, which was deemed under control by Sunday morning, June 15, in the Southeast Fire Centre off the west side of Lake Revelstoke.
The fire was burning about five kilometres northeast of the Jordan River, and just east of Frisby Ridge, but as of Monday morning, June 16, had disappeared entirely from BCWS's interactive database.
The wildfire appeared to grow out of control at the same time that Environment and Climate Change Canada advised of a severe thunderstorm warning for Revelstoke and West Columbia, which saw thunder roar over the city for close to an hour Thursday afternoon, July 12.
However, BCWS's report said the fire was first identified Wednesday, June 11.
There were no area restrictions or evacuation orders put in place.
