Sidney Museum and Archives Society is calling on the community to get involved and shape the future of the museum at its annual general meeting (AGM) on April 22.
The society is seeking nominations for its board of directors and encouraging residents to become voting members to ensure the museum can continue to thrive.
The museum relies on funding from the BC Gaming Grant, and a key requirement for receiving this grant is maintaining a specific number of voting members who participate in the AGM.
"In order to continue to secure this grant, we are asking for your support by attending the AGM as a paid member," the museum stated in a recent announcement.
The AGM will be held at 7 p.m. in the Arbutus Room at Sidney Municipal Hall.
Becoming a member of the Sidney Museum offers numerous perks, including discounts at the museum gift shop, archival prints and exclusive notice of special events.
Members also enjoy admission discounts to the BC Aviation Museum and Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea.
The board of directors meets approximately 10 times a year on Saturday mornings.
Those interested in running for a position on the board are encouraged to submit their nominations to nominations@sidneymuseum.ca by April 15.
