Salmon Arm RCMP stop pickup truck travelling 53 km/h over speed limit

$368 violation ticket issued, truck impounded

A patrolling Salmon Arm RCMP member stopped a driver travelling 143km/h in a 90-km zone along Highway 1 on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025.

Driving 53 kilometres per hour above the 90 km speed limit earned a driver a $368 violation ticket.

At 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, an RCMP officer on patrol in the 3000 block of Highway 1 witnessed a westbound blue Ford F-150 travelling at a high rate of speed.  

"Police radar confirmed the truck to be travelling at 143km/h in a post 90km/h zone," said Const. Andrew Hodges in a media release. "The officer safely pulled over, turned around and engaged in a traffic stop with the vehicle."

The 23-year-old male driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed in the amount of $368, the truck was impounded for a mandatory seven days and the matter was referred to RoadSafetyBC.
