The Parksville Community Centre is hosting a Pop-up Depot recycling collection event for Parksville Qualicum Beach residents at 1080 Industrial Way in Parksville on Saturday, May 24.
The event, held in partnership with Recycle BC, will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The pop-up event will accept materials normally not allowed in curbside collection services. They include flexible plastic packaging, white and coloured foam packaging, non-deposit glass bottles and jars, paper packaging and cardboard.
“This is great news for the public and the environment,” said PCCS president Duane Round. “These events will save residents from driving to Nanaimo or sending this material to the landfill and will help move us a little closer towards Net Zero Waste in our community.”
Recycle BC is a not-for-profit organization responsible for residential packaging and paper product recycling in British Columbia.
“Recycle BC is excited to continue to offer pop-up recycling events in 2025 for residents of Parksville, Qualicum Beach and surrounding areas through our partnership with the PCCS,” said Brendan McShane, director of collection for Recycle BC. “These events offer a closer recycling solution for depot-only materials, mixed paper, and cardboard and will help keep these materials out of the landfill and our environment.”
