Curlers arrived in a flash of colours at the Williams Lake Curling Club this weekend for the annual mixed bonspiel which brings men and women together onto the same teams.
15 teams attended the bonspiel, including one from Kamloops with members who used to play in Williams Lake. Couples, families and friends came together in teams, and junior players also participated. The teams were divided into three pools, and though scores were tight, each winning team accumulated 40 points.
"Toss in an 80's theme this year and fun was guaranteed," said Betty Dryden a member of one of the weekend's winning teams.
To level out the playing field, the players participate in a modified version of curling during the mixed bonspiel where the points are counted in a way that makes it easier for everyone to score.
This year's mixed bonspiel had fewer teams than normal, as many of the club's members were attending the National Men's Curling Championship being held in Kelowna.
