A March for Pride, unity and support was on display in Vernon on Sunday, June 8.
Hundreds took in the annual Vernon Pride Society's Pride Day March, starting at Civic Memorial Park.
"Pride is not about being loud, it is about never walking alone," said Pride Society president Dawn Tucker. "We are not alone and we are not going anywhere and we are stronger when we stand together."
The Pride March was a part of Pride Day, hosted at the park in a cross-collaborative event, and the final day of Pride Week (June 2-8).
Crafts, face painting, lawn games, community resource booths and freezies to cool down all the attendees were provided.
This was the first year Vernon's Pride Week was in June, after previously being in August. The shift was a welcome boost to attendance, making 2025 the most successful Pride Week ever.
"Our Cabaret night was sold out on Saturday (night), which was fantastic and all of our sponsors have been amazing," said Tucker. "Other events are going on in June, but it isn't quite as hot as it would be in August and having school still in was helpful to get all the kids out to events."
Tucker thanked the numerous sponsors for their support, as more than a dozen booths were inside the park on Sunday, along with several local dignitaries making speeches.
"We are certainly envisioning providing events that the community enjoys and we want feedback on what else they would want in the future," said Tucker. "It is lovely to see everyone embrace it, as our events are meant for everybody."
