A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in Williams Lake on Monday, October 28.

A person reportedly crossed Highway 20 near Highway 97 and was struck by a car travelling south.

RCMP mentioned the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing, however, they did not mention whether or not the driver of the vehicle was using driving lights, how well lit the area was or the colour of the vehicle.

RCMP said an off-duty police officer came upon the incident between a pedestrian and a car.

The driver remained at the scene and provided a statement.

First aid was provided at the scene and the pedestrian was later transported to hospital by ambulance with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

RCMP said there was no crosswalk or controlled device at the scene of the collision.

The investigation is still ongoing but RCMP said no criminality appears to be involved in the incident.

Anyone with any information related to the incident can contact the Williams Lake RCMP at 250-392-6211.
