Coun. Sean Wood has been endorsed by Parksville council to stand for election as a director on the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' board of directors.
The FCM represents the interests of municipalities on policy and program matters that fall within federal jurisdiction. Its board is made up of elected municipal officials from across Canada and from all sizes of communities.
The election will be held in June, following the FCM's annual general meeting. If elected, Wood will serve as a director until the conclusion of Parksville's current council term in October 2026.
Council voted in favour of a resolution to endorse Wood, as well as have costs associated with attending the meetings in person be assumed by the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Small Communities Travel Fund.
