Interior Health has extended an overdose alert for Williams Lake and surrounding area until June 12.
"Due to a sustained increase in drug overdose deaths and ongoing overdose events," states the notification from Interior Health sent on June 4.
To prevent an overdose, health providers advise users to:
- carry Naloxone and know how to use it
- beware of mixing drugs, including with alcohol
- try not to use alone
- start with a very small amount and space out doses
- use the LifeGuard app - llifguarddh.com
- call 211 or visit bc211.ca to find services nearby
