Port Alberni RCMP are searching for two suspects after a man was discovered Tuesday morning in a residential neighbourhood suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Police responded to a call at 9 a.m. on July 30, 2024 of a man stabbed in the 3600-block of McIntyre Drive. Officers arrived to find a male had been stabbed multiple times. First responders from Port Alberni Fire Department and RCMP provided first aid until paramedics arrived, and the man was subsequently airlifted to hospital in Victoria, an RCMP spokesperson said.

Two suspects were observed leaving the scene running west toward Wood Avenue near Redford Street, and police dogs were deployed, however, the suspects managed to flee the scene. Through multiple witness statements and CCTV footage, RCMP were able to identify the suspects.

Police have no reason to believe that there is a risk to the public.

Port Alberni RCMP are asking anyone with information about the stabbing, to call the RCMP at 250-723-2424 or attend the Port Alberni RCMP detachment at 4444 Morton Street

The suspects were still at large as of Friday, RCMP Const. Richard Johns said.
