Over 70 new "affordable" childcare spaces are coming to Langford.
News of the local childcare boost has been welcomed by Langford-Highlands MLA Ravi Parmar. "And I’m not going to rest until every family that needs it has access,” he said in a news release.
The location of the 73 new childcare spaces in Langford has not yet been confirmed. However, the province has said the spaces, once operational, will be eligible for the government’s fee reduction program, ensuring they will be affordable for families.
Minister of Education and Child Care Lisa Beare is scheduled to make an announcement on new childcare investments coming to Langford Tuesday evening at the Centennial Centre for Arts, Culture and Community on Carlow Road.
Over $62 million has been invested by the province and federal governments to create more than 750 new licensed childcare spaces across B.C., including Langford.
“Investing in child care isn’t just good for families — it’s good for our economy," continued Parmar. "It helps parents, especially women, rejoin the workforce or pursue education, and supports local businesses by strengthening our labour force. That’s why our government is doubling down on opening more affordable, high-quality child care spaces across B.C.”
