More drugs and weapons have been seized in downtown Kelowna.
On Wednesday, May 7, the Kelowna RCMP's Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) focused its efforts on high-risk offenders and known traffickers and came out successful.
The following resulted in the seizure of:
- A pound of cannabis;
- 100 grams of psilocybin;
- Approximately 140 grams of Illegal street drugs (primarily cocaine and fentanyl);
- Weapons;
- Drug trafficking equipment
“The Crime Reduction Unit will be providing enhanced policing within the downtown core starting this summer,” said Sgt. Scott Powrie of the RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit. “This not only is to strengthen current enforcement efforts but to respond directly to the concerns raised by residents and businesses downtown. We continue to adapt and modernize our strategies to ensure we are delivering the highest level of service to the community.”
This comes a couple of weeks after the CRU arrested 16 people in the downtown core and seized 175 grams of drugs on April 22 and 23.
