Two people were arrested and items often associated with the drug trade were seized after a northbound vehicle on Highway 97 was stopped by BC Highway Patrol (BCHP) on June 12.

An RCMP press release dated Thursday, June 19, said BCHP were conducting enforcement along the highway near Alexandria, about an hour north of Williams Lake, when they stopped a vehicle exhibiting odd driving behaviour.

RCMP said both the driver and passenger were found to be "known to police," and interactions uncovered evidence leading to the arrest of the vehicle's occupants, an adult man and woman.

The release said suspected crystal meth, suspected fentanyl, $5,000 in cash as well as other items often associated to the drug trade were seized in a subsequent search.

Both suspects have been released without process, meaning no charges have yet been laid as the investigation continues.
