Habitat for Humanity Victoria builds on its leadership team this summer, bringing in a new face at the helm.

Recognized as a seasoned leader in non-profit management and community development, Carmen Rempel is to step into the role of chief executive officer, succeeding interim Krista Bekkema.

Rempel has served as the executive director of Kelowna’s Gospel Mission for the last five years, where she spearheaded significant advancements in housing, outreach, and support services for individuals experiencing homelessness.

“We are thrilled to welcome Carmen to Habitat for Humanity Victoria,” board chair Wes Shoemaker said in a press release. “Her dedication to creating stronger, more inclusive communities aligns perfectly with our mission of providing safe and affordable homeownership opportunities for families in need.”

Habitat for Humanity Victoria is a non-profit that helps families build stability and independence through affordable home ownership. Since 1990, the organization has built 34 homes for 38 families in Greater Victoria.
