Brian Cameron, Liberal Party of Canada

Occupation/background: I’m a trained and certified aircraft engineer living in the Comox Valley. I’m a husband to my wife, Clare and father to my five-month-old daughter, Nel. I’ve lived on Vancouver Island for almost 10 years and have travelled all across the country from coast to coast to coast. I’m running in this election because I think Mark Carney needs a full term as Canada’s 24th prime minister. He’s the right person at the right time in this federal election.

What will be your priorities if you are elected? I want to fight to make life more affordable for families across Canada and especially for my fellow constituents in Courtenay-Alberni. I'm ready to take real action to support middle- and lower-income Canadians through a broad tax cut that will benefit over 22 million people. For many in Courtenay-Alberni, this could mean up to $825 a year back in their pockets that can help cover groceries, rent, child care, or transportation.
In Courtenay-Alberni, we know the housing crisis is hitting hard. That’s why our Liberal plan includes building 500,000 new homes annually across the country, eliminating the GST for first-time homebuyers, and cutting unnecessary red tape to get more homes built faster. These changes are aimed directly at helping people in our region find and afford housing – especially young families trying to get into the market.

Why should people of Courtenay-Alberni vote for you for MP? If I earn the trust of voters in Courtenay-Alberni, I’ll work alongside our Liberal government to continue delivering results that make life more affordable for everyone on Vancouver Island. The challenges we’re facing – whether it's cost of living, housing, or economic opportunity – require bold action and real solutions. That’s exactly what we’re committed to.
I'm asking for your vote because I’m ready to work hard for Courtenay-Alberni. I’ll bring your concerns straight to Ottawa and be a strong voice for our region. Together, we can help Mark Carney build a stronger Canada by making Courtenay-Alberni stronger, more affordable, and full of opportunity for everyone who calls it home.

Thomas Gamble, People’s Party of Canada

Occupation/background: Former naval warfare officer and small business owner with a background in leadership, strategy, and technology. He holds a bachelor of computer science and an MBA in executive management.

What will be your priorities if you are elected? As the member of Parliament for Courtenay-Alberni, my priorities will be grounded in common sense, personal responsibility, and putting Canadians first, values that are missing in Ottawa today.
I will champion the return to freedom and constitutional rights. That involves standing up for freedom of speech, repealing censorship laws like Bill C-11 and C-18, and ensuring no Canadian is criminalized for peaceful dissent, unpopular opinions, or choosing bodily autonomy. COVID protocols showed how swiftly those rights are lost when we are not vigilant.
I'll set to work addressing the cost of living crisis by fighting inflation at its roots. That means a pause on immigration, balancing the federal budget, halting wasteful government spending, and repealing carbon taxes that drive up fuel, food, and housing prices.
I will work to repeal C-4, which the other parties voted for unanimously, which strips parental rights to protect their own children and does enormous damage to the youth, and LGBT community, despite activist claims to the contrary.
I will push to restore local control over services like health care and education, which are provincial responsibilities. Ottawa’s strings are choking innovation and access. I’ll support returning health care to its proper jurisdiction so the provinces can build solutions that fit their needs.
Above all, I’ll make sure I represent you, not lobbyists, insiders, or globalist organizations. I will stand for integrity, fiscal sanity, and Canadian sovereignty and the protection of your rights against ever-encroaching infringement by the establishment parties.

Why should people of Courtenay-Alberni vote for you for MP? The People’s Party of Canada is the only party with the courage to say what everyone else is afraid to admit: the system is broken, and tinkering around the edges won’t fix it. The other parties only disagree with each other about how quickly to destroy our freedoms, and the PPC is the only party offering solutions to protect them. My north star is more freedom for you, and minimizing government interference in your life, and your pockets. That's my offer to you.

Gord Johns, New Democratic Party

Occupation/background: I first decided to run for Parliament because I saw people in our communities being left behind, families struggling to find housing, young people losing hope, our environment under threat. Before my first election in 2015, I spent over 25 years living and working and raising a family on central Vancouver Island as a small eco-business owner, a municipal counsellor and executive director of the Tofino-Long Beach Chamber of Commerce. I saw how hard my friends and neighbours were working and how often they were being failed by a system that puts profits ahead of people. And, I saw that our local and regional governments weren’t getting their fair share of federal investment in housing and infrastructure. I knew I couldn't sit on the sidelines. I wanted to be a strong voice in Ottawa for fairness, compassion, sustainability, and justice. Since being elected, I've taken those values straight to Parliament, working with local and regional governments for historic levels of housing and infrastructure investment in our communities, resulting in job creation and lower taxation for homeowners.
During my nine years in office, our communities have received an average of $18.07 million annually in federal infrastructure funding compared to just $1.7 million during the previous 10 years with Conservative MPs and a Conservative government.

What will be your priorities if you are elected? I'm running for re-election because the fight is far from over, especially with the aggression of Donald Trump towards our country and the challenges for workers, small businesses and families because of his unfair trade war. I will fight for real, immediate relief and for long-term solutions that put people ahead of corporate profits. And, for more affordable non-market homes like co-ops and social housing; and, for stronger rent-protections. We have led efforts to investigate price-fixing and will continue to push for a windfall profits tax on big chains – money that should help families afford the basics.

Why should people of Courtenay-Alberni vote for you for MP? Courtenay-Alberni needs and deserves experienced representation at the table and leadership that puts people first. Being member of Parliament is not an entry-level job, I know this from personal experience and I’m ready to hit the ground running for Courtenay-Alberni.

Teresa Knight, Animal Protection Party

Occupation/background: An art teacher and artist, I have spent many volunteer hours working for animals, serving on boards, and curating art events centred on animal lives.

What will be your priorities, if you are elected? I am here, first and foremost, to end the suffering of millions or billions of animals. Those of you who have had a beloved pet, know that animals are just like people in many ways. They feel love and want to live, can be playful and smart, mischievous or sweet. In our society, though, they are often treated as property and products, enduring all kinds of tortures at the hands of researchers, or life-long confinement and abuse in the factory food business. None of us like to see this, especially as we can easily switch to perfectly good available alternatives. It is easy, cheaper and planet-saving to use plant alternatives for almost every product and food. This will help with affordability, adhere to our food guide, making us healthier, sustain ecosystems and preserve our planet for the future. Our area is perfect to become a leader in newer technologies which do not rely on abuse of others to put ourselves forward.
The Animal Protection Party will lobby for massive funding for a switch to plant-based agriculture and plant-based product industries while defunding animal agriculture and any research that uses animals when we have AI and chip technology for research. We will ensure that all animal cruelty laws are expanded and enforced both in and out of industry with very heavy penalties for abusers. It has been proven that the abuse of animals can precondition people to be violent towards humans. Conversely, the act of compassion towards one can become a habit of extending compassion to all as well. Never say that we cannot do anything about abuse. We all can, everyday.

Why should people of Courtenay-Alberni vote for you for MP? The Animal Protection Party has a complete platform that is forward-looking in all areas. We are committed to keeping our planet and us healthy and happy and running smoothly. We will work tirelessly for both us and all the creatures with whom we share this web of life.

Chris Markevich, Green Party of Canada

Occupation/background: I work for VanillaSoft, a sales engagement platform, in technical support. I have a master of post-production diploma from the Art Institute. I was born and raised in Vancouver where I lived for more than 30 years. I have a wealth of experience working for political parties and non-profits, including the Douglas-Coldwell Layton Foundation, North Island Pride and provincial council for the B.C. Green Party.

What will be your priorities if you are elected? The toxic drug crisis continues to be one of the most pressing issues of the past 10 years. This week, British Columbia had the dubious distinction of marking nine years of being under a public health emergency. However, more than 16,000 people have died due to this crisis, with over 50,000 deaths across Canada. The Green Party has been calling for a national public health emergency for more than five years, which would free up federal funding and intervention. It would also allow the federal government to direct funds straight to organizations in communities to better serve people who need help. We are also severely lacking access to family doctors, particularly in the Comox Valley where there is only one walk-in clinic for more than 50,000 residents. The Green Party is committed to a new primary care health act to guarantee every Canadian access to a family doctor, as well as fully integrating mental health services into healthcare as an insured benefit.

Why should people of Courtenay-Alberni vote for you for MP? Courtenay-Alberni is a vast and geographically diverse area and is unique in many ways. There are numerous challenges facing people, from safe and reliable transportation through Port Alberni, to earthquake preparedness in Tofino and Ucluelet, and shipbreaking in Baynes Sound. People in the riding want an MP who will address those challenges head on in Parliament, and to be a tireless advocate for real progress on solving them. I am committed to being Courtenay-Alberni’s voice in Ottawa, and I am not afraid to make good trouble for any obstinate government, whether it ends up being Liberal or Conservative.

Kris McNichol, Conservative Party of Canada

Occupation/background: Husband, father, grandfather, small business owner, and community leader with over 24 years of hands-on experience building businesses from the ground up. I’ve created jobs, weathered economic storms, and supported local families through both good times and bad. I’m not a career politician. I come from the real world—where hard work, common sense, and results matter.
What will be your priorities if you are elected? If elected, my top priority will be to make life more affordable for everyday people here in Courtenay-Alberni. Right now, the cost of living is crushing families. Groceries are out of reach. Seniors are being forced to choose between heating and eating. Young people are giving up on the dream of home ownership. This didn’t just happen – it’s the result of years of reckless spending, rising taxes, and failed policies from the Liberals and the NDP.
I believe it's time to bring common sense back to Ottawa. That starts with axing the carbon tax, cutting wasteful government spending, and lowering taxes to put more money back in your pocket. I’ll fight for policies that reduce the cost of food, fuel, and housing – so hard-working Canadians can get ahead, not just get by.
Why should people of Courtenay-Alberni vote for you for MP? Residents of Courtenay-Alberni deserve an MP who understands their challenges because he’s lived them – someone who has signed both sides of a paycheque and knows what it means to build something real. I’ve spent decades helping others succeed in business and in life, and I’m ready to bring that same drive and determination to Ottawa.
It’s time for a government that works for the people – not against them. Let’s restore hope, rebuild opportunity, and bring common sense leadership back to our communities.

Jesse Musial, Christian Heritage Party

Occupation/background: I grew up in Atlin, a very small, remote town in northern B.C.  After completing a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Victoria, I joined my father and sister in the family business and have since also joined the management  team of a modular home manufacturing company (Atlas Modular Solutions) based here on Vancouver Island. My wife Brandalyn and I have lived on Vancouver Island since 2008 and in Coombs since 2012. We are both actively involved in advocating for vulnerable children and families locally, nationally, and internationally.

What will be your priorities if you are elected? If I am elected, my priorities will be to represent Christian values in our federal political system; to champion the rights of vulnerable children and families, especially children in the womb; to end the indoctrination of children in our education system; to defend the rights of parents to raise their children according to their values and beliefs; to expose and oppose the pressure on our seniors and other vulnerable, hurting individuals to end their own lives through MAID; to educate lawmakers and the all Canadians on the risks, costs and consequences of exposing unborn children to alcohol; to fight for lower taxes, less government regulation of businesses and industry, and less waste of our tax dollars.

Why should people of Courtenay-Alberni vote for you for MP? The family, as the essential basic unit of society, is under attack. Promoting the sanctity of marriage is often viewed as naïve and old-fashioned. The right of parents to raise their children based on their own values and beliefs is being eroded. Defending life at all stages, from conception to natural death, is seen by many as an attack on the rights and freedoms of others. I believe that, if Canada continues to ignore the supremacy of God and we continue to do what is right in our own eyes, we will reap the inevitable consequences that we already see happening in the mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health of our citizens, of our children, and of our country.
