A parking lot area at 351 Hodgson Road will be leased to Ledcor by the city of Williams Lake for a laydown area.
The property, which was previously the Pioneer Complex, became property of the city in a tax sale.
Council has been discussing how to tackle demolishing the building, which could come at a substantial cost.
Ledcor reportedly reached out to city staff in search of a potential location to use for approximately six months and staff proposed an area of the property for this purpose.
The city would be leasing a section of the property to fence and store equipment and materials for $1,500 a month from May until Octover of 2025.
So far, staff report the city has spent $13,500 on the property to board up the building on the property, change the locks, and install cautionary signage. A structural engineer has also reviewed the building for the city.
The property was also proposed as a possible alternating location for temporary overnight shelters in the city to provide bylaw enforcement services with a location to direct homeless people wanting to erect tents overnight when emergency shelters are full. The proposed lease agreement means the site will no longer be available for this potential purpose.
