As part of the Kelowna Transportation Master Plan, the city is looking at the idea of expanding Clement Avenue and is asking for the public's opinion.
The plan being developed would extend Clement Avenue eastbound along the Okanagan Rail Trail, connecting to Dilworth Road and Highway 33, giving drivers another option on their daily commute.
“The city’s road network in Midtown is constrained by Dilworth Mountain and Mission Creek,” said city transportation manager Gordon Foy. “Traffic between the east and west sides of the city, as well as regional highway traffic, is limited to three routes, Enterprise Way, Harvey Ave / Highway 97, and Springfield Rd. The Clement Avenue Extension will create a new way to pass through Midtown, increasing the road network’s capacity and redundancy during busy peak periods.”
The preliminary design is partly funded by the Ministry of Transportation and Transit.
Kelowna residents are encouraged to have their say by participating in an online survey.
