They say you can’t keep a good person down and as far as the local Chamber of Commerce is concerned, you can’t keep a good business unrecognized either.
According to the Ladysmith Chamber of Commerce executive director Roberta Bowman, “we really want to let the community know about the kind of businesses we have locally and also the people who are involved with them. That is why, after an 11-year hiatus, we are bringing back the Spirit of Ladysmith Business Awards.”
The resurrected recognition event will take place at Ladysmith’s Aggie Hall on Friday, Oct. 25 and will be from 7 to 9 p.m.
“The return of this highly anticipated event will shine a light on hard-working businesses, business people, and community leaders across 10 categories worth celebrating,” Bowman said.
Nominations for the Spirit of Ladysmith Business Awards are available now by going to the Chamber of Commerce website www.ladysmithcofc.com. The public is encouraged to nominate a business or individual for an award acknowledging their achievements and contributions to the local community.
“We encourage everyone to participate by nominating deserving businesses or individuals for awards online via our website,” Bowman said.
Nominations are open until July 31.
“The public will be given the opportunity to vote for their favourite nominees prior to the final judging,” added Bowman.
“We are still looking for a few sponsors, for the various awards,” she said. “For those interested in sponsoring an award they can contact us at the chamber office at 250-245-2112 or email admin@ladysmithcofc.com for more information.”
