The Canadian Department of National Defence is letting residents of the area know they will be conducting training exercises in the Chilcotin between July 18 until August 5, 2025.
The exercises will be training for the use of machine guns by army reserve troops.
This will take place in the area identified as Block 7741 Training Area, previously known as the Chilcotin Military Range, an area about 50 km west of Williams Lake on the Chilcotin Plateau.
The area has been owned by the Department of National Defence for nearly a century and is used most years for training maneuvers.
Editor's note: Due to receiving updated information, this story has been updated to clarify the training will include reserve trainees and will not utilize aircraft.
