Students of Camosun College's Fine Furniture program are showing their projects at the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre until July 20.

Grads of Camosun College's fine furniture program are showcasing their learning in a public gallery with a display of seating they designed and built over the past year.

Until July 20, Kick Back! Seating in Western Maple will be showing at the Cedar Hill Recreation Centre, where students will show what they've built after months of learning, sketching and fabrication.

This year’s exhibition looks to showcase the creativity and craft students have developed in the program’s intensive run. Some of the students' work includes rocking chairs, folding chairs, and refined loungers; a chair designed for playing music, a chair for children, and a praying mantis chair.

Students had the opportunity to experiment with custom-fabricated hardware in brass and steel, wove seating from seagrass and straw grass, upholstered with materials like corduroy, and more.

“I have to pinch myself to remember where we started, honestly,” noted student Rachel Aske in a news release. “I’ve become so used to seeing such great work, it’s really exciting to see everyone’s personal styles coming out and how they feel reflective of each person. I can’t wait to share with everyone.”

Admission to the gallery is free.
