Local boaters are invited to attend the Brentwood Bay Marine Safety Day on Saturday, June 7, at Anglers Anchorage Marina's upper concrete deck.
Hosted by SAR 31 Marine Search and Rescue, the event aims to educate boaters on crucial safety practices and Transport Canada regulations.
From 9 to 11 a.m., attendees can learn about a wide range of essential topics, including the importance of life jackets, the proper use of kill switches and inflatable life vests, legal requirements for boating, and the significance of flares, life rings and boarding ladders.
Cold water survival techniques, including the vital 1-10-1 rule, will also be discussed, along with information on VHF radios and fire extinguishers.
Attendees will receive copies of the Transport Canada Guidelines for vessels up to 100 feet, providing a customized checklist for their specific vessel. First responders will be available to answer general boating safety questions.
The public is also invited to tour the SAR 31 vessel, Robert Holmes, at the marina.
This free event presents a valuable opportunity for the Brentwood Bay boating community to enhance their safety knowledge and ensure safer adventures on the water this season.
