Alberni Highway lights in Parksville will remain in place year-round

A City of Parksville contractor will replace the lights on the trees along Alberni Highway during the week of March 3.

A City of Parksville contractor will remove the lights on the street trees along Alberni Highway and replace them with new strings of lights on 20 trees, during the week of March 3.

These lights will remain in place year-round, according to a news release by the city.

The work which will begin on March 3 and is expected to take most of the week, with the contractor working from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily.

Throughout the week of March 3, parking on Alberni Highway will be interrupted. As the lights are installed and it is safe to do so, parking spaces will be made available.

The contractor will begin the work near the Royal Bank on the east side of Alberni Highway, moving towards the Chevron Station at Highway 19A.

The second phase of the work will start at the CIBC at Highway 19A working up Alberni Highway to the Rod and Gun liquor store.
