The streets of downtown Sidney are set to transform into an exciting cycling circuit on Sunday, June 1, as the town hosts the first-ever Sidney Bike Fest.
This event is a part of the 2025 BC Road Cycling Championships weekend, organized by the Victoria Cycling League (VCL) Racing Society.
The weekend kicks off on May 30 with a time trial in North Saanich, followed by a 10-km road race in Metchosin and a criterium race in Sidney, promising a day of spectator-friendly bicycle racing.
Cyclists will navigate a closed, 750-metre circuit in the heart of downtown, completing a predetermined number of laps in a test of speed, skill and endurance.
Road closures will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., impacting Beacon Avenue (from Fifth Street to Second Street), Bevan Avenue (from Fourth Street to Second Street), Fourth Street (from 9813 Fourth St. to Bevan Avenue), Third Street (from 9813 Third St. to 9732 Third St.) and Second Street (from Beacon to Bevan Avenue).
Organizers anticipate a crowd of approximately 1,000 spectators will cheer on around 250 cyclists as they battle for victory.
The Sidney Bike Fest is organized by the VCL Racing Society and sanctioned by Cycling BC, ensuring a high-quality and professionally managed event.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to come out and experience the thrill of competitive cycling.
