2 drug poisoning alerts issued for Williams Lake area

Interior Health says multiple overdoses have been reported

Interior Health is warning there have been multiple overdoses reported in the Williams Lake area.

The health authority issued two separate drug poisoning alerts on Tuesday evening, Dec. 3, 2024. 

One is for a substance sold as Down, that contains a nitazene and no fentanyl. 

It looks like white powder.

IH warns it could easily be mistaken for other drugs like powdered cocaine or ketamine. 

The second alert is for another substance sold as Down associated with multiple overdoses. 

This drug has green/yellow crystals that are chunks.

It is sold as Down, Dope or Fentanyl and comes with a very high risk of overdose. 

These alerts remain in effect until Dec. 10. 

Drug checking is urged in Williams Lake by calling or texting the number 250-305-4235.
