The 100 Mile House RCMP responded to an alleged break-and-enter incident that happened overnight on Wednesday, Aug. 14.
The incident occurred around 2:20 a.m., according to Sgt. Brian Lamb in a news release, when the RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a residence on Canim Lake Road South. Lamb said, "an occupant of the residence who was awakened to the incident was allegedly assaulted by the suspect" - and the suspect had subsequently left the residence, with another occupant of the home calling Police.
The RCMP say firearms and other items were taken - and after attending the area, they determined the location of the suspect to be at another residence in the Canim Lake Road South area. The RCMP said that "an adult male was arrested and an adult female was detained without incident" at the residence.
With the assistance of the RCMP Police Dog Services from Kamloops, as well as Forensic Identification Services from Williams Lake, and the Cariboo Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit, the RCMP conducted a search warrant on the residence. Lamb noted that "several firearms and other property that were believed to be taken were recovered."
The adult male was remanded into custody and has been charged with robbery, disguise with intent, break and enter, breach of an undertaking, and breach of a release order, while the adult female was released with no charges. RCMP say they are continuing the investigation.
RCMP say that those with any information about the incident should call them at 250-395-2456 or Crimestoppers 24 hours a day at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at bccrimestoppers.com.
