People planning events or looking for a fun day out in the lakecity can mark their calendars for Saturday, Oct. 5.
This will be the day when the Cariboo Wedding & Grad Show will take over Thompson Rivers University in Williams Lake's gymnasium at 1250 Western Avenue from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
After having not been held in Williams Lake since 2019, this year's event promises to be "a pretty dynamic and exciting show" for anyone looking to host or organize an event in the area, said organizer Kristen Blackwood.
Blackwood, who owns Blackwood Beauty Studio, has had a busy year, having moved her business to downtown Williams Lake from where it was located at her home at 150 Mile House, but she's ready for the event's return to the TRU gymnasium.
She took over organizing the show, when the previous organizer retired from doing it and she said it as important for her to showcase all of the relevant vendors for weddings and other big events.
"I just wanted to make it easier for brides when they're planning," she said.
Blackwood's experience working in Toronto for four years and doing makeup for the fashion show portion of Toronto bridal shows, she had plenty of inspiration to draw on from the multi-day Toronto bridal events.
"They're epically big," she said.
But Cariboo event patrons will also have plenty to keep them busy at the Oct. 5 event as well, with every aspect of event organizing on display and more than 30 vendors including caterers, venues, cake makers, DJs, florists, bouncy castles, event planners and dress stores on the list of booths.
A live performance by Evan Fuller will take place at 1 p.m.
Outside the event there will also be food trucks, and attendees will get to take home a Bridal Guide which will include a list of vendors, tips and tricks, and more.
Attendees will also have a chance to enter to win some incredible grand prizes, including a $3,000 couples prize package and more than $1,000 worth of grad gifts.
A special exhibit by the Museum of the Cariboo Chilcotin will showcase some historic wedding dresses, including one belonging to Anne Stevenson.
Blackwood said vendors will be having show specials and prizes at their booths as well.
The event will be a fun way to spend a day, she said, and it will look great, with All in the Details the design sponsor and Broadway Liquor and Cariboo Dress Hire as event sponsors.
Cariboo Wedding & Grad Show tickets are available online via https://www.blackwoodbeautystudio.ca and are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, with all proceeds going towards the Lake City Secondary School dry grad celebrations.
