Williams Lake Stampeders asserted their dominance over the Kitimat Ice Demons on Nov. 16, claiming a decisive 9-1 victory in a Central Interior Hockey League (CIHL) showdown at Williams Lake.

Dawson Foerster set the pace with an early goal at 6:45 in the first period, while Brendan Pigeon’s late tally at 18:18 doubled the lead. The second period saw an offensive explosion from Williams Lake, led by Nicholas Fidanza’s two goals, including a powerplay marker, and contributions from Dylan Richardson, Foerster, and Chad Wilde, pushing the score to a commanding 7-0.

Kitimat failed on six powerplay chances, while Williams Lake capitalised on their lone powerplay opportunity.

Jake Robinson provided Kitimat’s only goal at 13:09 in the third period, breaking through a stout Stampeders’ defence. However, Williams Lake had already extended their lead further with Cole Zimmerman scoring early in the third, and Fidanza completing his hat trick at 11:56.

Despite the lopsided scoreline, discipline was maintained, with Kitimat taking just two minor penalties and Williams Lake accumulating six, a relatively low total by league standards.

The win places Williams Lake in fourth place league-wide with 10 points, while Kitimat sits sixth with five. Quesnel leads the standings with 13 points over seven games, followed by Hazelton with 13 points over nine games.

Kitimat next faces the Rampage on Nov. 30 in Prince Rupert, while the Stampeders travel to Vanderhoof to take on the Nechako Northstars on the same day.
