Williams Lake First Nation pow wow arbour was busy Sept. 6 to 8 with the Speaking Our Truth Competition Pow Wow

Dancers stamped their feet and twirled their regalia to the beat of the drum this weekend at Williams Lake First Nation’s (WLFN) annual Speaking Our Truth Competition Pow Wow.

Weaving through the crowd of dancers was WLFN chief Willie Sellars: “It’s hard to express with words just how grateful we are for the turn out...for a Friday this is something special.” Sellars said Friday’s turnout may be the best they’ve had at any of their past pow wows.

About 95 per cent of the volunteers at this weekend’s event, which ran from Sept. 6-8, were community members.
