The Lac La Hache Water System has been put under a Water Quality Advisory.
The Cariboo Regional District, in a press release, stated that the advisory was issued due to the reservoir being "drawn down to below 10 per cent twice in the last 24 hours" due to firefighting. The CRD says that sampling needs to be done to "ensure no transient backflow events contaminated the system." The advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
The CRD advises any high-risk users, including those with weakened immune systems, young children and those on dialysis to use purchased bottled water or boiled water for drinking, brushing teeth, dishwashing, preparing food, and making ice, or bringing water to a rolling boil for one minute, then cool to an appropriate temperature before using.
The CRD said it regularly tests the water system as part of its Water Quality Monitoring System and apologizes for any inconvenience this advisory may cause. They state that when satisfactory results are reported from the testing, customers will be notified that the advisory has been lifted.
Those with any questions should call the Environmental Services Department at 1-800-665-1636.
