Artist, Tracy Kobus, will be exhibiting her recent acrylic paintings at Martine’s Bistro in Comox from June until September.
Kobus was one of the first artists to show her work at the restaurant when it opened in 2004. You may meet the artist at Martine’s Bistro, Sunday, July 6, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Refreshments will be available.
Kobus has been working as a professional artist and art teacher in the Comox Valley for the past 25 years. In her recognizable and vibrant painting style, she invites viewers into her landscapes which are referenced from many locations on or near Vancouver Island.
Her most recent large painting “The Spit”, captures Rebecca Spit on Quadra Island, where a path divides beaches on either side, leading to the forest at the end.
“To me, a path is like time, continuously leading us forward into the unknown future,” says Kobus.
Some other paintings on exhibit will be “Winter Walk”, “Summers End”, “Night Ride” and “The Ascent”.
Kobus sells art cards and giclee prints at gift shops on and around Vancouver Island, in her online shop and she will be a vendor at the Filberg Festival this summer, Aug. 1 to 3.
The popular eight-week session of, “Drawing: The Right Approach”, for total beginners, and more of Kobus’ classes, will run September until April at Cloud 9 Wellness in downtown Courtenay. The schedule will be on her website in August.
