Lifelong friends and colleagues Nico Rhodes and Patrick Courtin are on a mission to prove that the keyboard is still cool.
The duo Piano Heist will play a concert at Knox United Church (345 Pym St.) in Parksville on April 3, according to a news release.
They will take the audience on a thrilling ride through 300 years of music history. From classical raptures to boogie woogie bangers, romantic ballads to synth battles — this show has it all.
Armed with D.O.U.G.I. (Digital Orchestral Ultimate Gizmo Intelligence), their virtual orchestra, these two maestros will shock, amaze,and entertain in equal measure. Expect theatrics, comedy, audience participation, heartfelt stories, historical tidbits and pure musical madness.
Rhodes is a multilingual musician who collaborates with other artists to explore music in as many styles as possible. He has 40 stage musicals to his credit, and has written 400 original compositions, four original musicals and arranged two symphonic pops concerts.
Courtin is a multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, music director and educator. His musical journey began with classical piano studies, which he later expanded by completing a degree in jazz at Vancouver Island University. His performances have taken him on tours across Canada, the U.S. and even to China.
