The Parksville Beach Festival Society has announced a patriotic closing to this year’s festival, with a special concert performance by the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy on Aug. 17.
Tickets go on sale May 15 through the McMillan Arts Centre Box Office for the event which will mark the grand finale of Beach Festival 2025, held under the whimsical theme “Circus by the Sea,” according to a news release by Parksville Beach Festival Society.
Comprised of 35 full-time professional musicians, the Naden Band has been representing the Royal Canadian Navy since 1940. Based out of CFB Esquimalt, and under the baton of Lieutenant (Navy) Ben Van Slyke, the band provides musical support for military ceremonies, official state functions and community events across B.C.
"Their dedication to musical excellence and public engagement includes collaborations with the Victoria Symphony, University of Victoria, and the Canadian College of Performing Arts," the release said. "The Parksville Beach Festival Society is thrilled to offer this very special concert to close this year’s festivities. Come help us celebrate the pride we all share in our great country and showcase your support of the Canadian Armed Forces."
With no opening act, audiences can enjoy two hours of an inspiring and masterful performance from one of Canada’s most esteemed military bands.
"Bring your family, your patriotism, and your picnic blankets for this uplifting afternoon of music and Canadian spirit on the shores of Parksville Beach."
The concert is sponsored by Carol Riera personal real estate corporation with RE/MAX Anchor Realty.
