Canadian music legend Valdy is coming to Parksville for a concert on May 24.
The two-time Juno winner, born Paul-Valdemar Horsdal, has toured Canada for 50 years and released 16 albums. He will perform at Knox United Church starting at 7:30 p.m.
Valdy, 79, is known for hits like ‘Rock and Roll Song’ and still loves touring the country and beyond.
Starting out in the early 1970s, he has performed in venues across the world, been nominated for seven Junos, released four gold records, sold nearly half a million units internationally and even played Halibut Stu on The Beachcombers.
Valdy has taught songwriting workshops, had his music featured in movie soundtracks and was invested as a member of the Order of Canada in 2012.
He was born and raised in Ottawa. Henry Mancini was his first big musical influence, followed by the likes of The Clancy Brothers, Tommy Makem, Chubby Checker, Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Knox United Church is located at 345 Pym St.
