It’s hard to beat a summer Sunday evening spent soaking up live music by the sea, especially when it supports a good cause.
The Concerts in the Park series returns to the Transfer Beach amphitheatre this July and August, with four family-friendly events featuring bands, food trucks and stunning waterfront views. Presented by the Ladysmith Resources Centre Association (LRCA), the events raise funds for the organization’s community programs.
This year’s concerts run from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sundays, July 6, July 13, Aug. 10 and Aug. 17. Each show is by donation with proceeds helping the LRCA provide support services across Ladysmith and the surrounding area.
Founded in 1992, the LRCA delivers programs addressing food insecurity, mental health, restorative justice, transportation for seniors, and support for fathers through its dads group.
While the cause is serious, the events themselves reflect the LRCA’s joyful spirit.
This year’s lineup will feature Doctors of Rock & Roll on July 6, a classic rock cover band delivering favourites from the ’50s to today.
On July 13, one of Vancouver Island’s most beloved live acts, Soul Shakers, is bringing their signature blend of soul, R&B, blues and pop.
Aug. 10 will see Victoria-based party band Demographix Band playing high-energy hits perfect for dancing and singing along.
Wrapping things up on Aug. 17 is The Nanaimo Rock Choir, a 100-member vocal group reimagining rock hits in powerful harmony.
All concerts are weather-dependent and take place at the outdoor amphitheatre at Transfer Beach.
