With an aim to attend more Model United Nations conferences in the future, students at Lake City Secondary School are doing a talent show to fundraise.

The show will take place Tuesday, May 28 at 6 p.m.

Recently Ella Kruus, Journey Carlson-Campbell, Isabelle Cameron and Winnie Lee travelled to Vancouver on March 1 to participate in a conference.

Every year, over 1,000 participants from around the world and over 100 schools gather in Vancouver to stimulate over 20 committees that address world political issues. Students, the delegates, represent a country or position in a committee, and they debate their topics over the weekend to address and solve the issues in this simulation of the UN’s assemblies and other governmental organizations, such as the British Parliament, Asian Cooperation Dialogue, United States Senate and many more.

Ella said the talent show will consist of around 10 different students and groups.

“It is mostly going to be musical performances with singing, guitar, drums and more,” she said. “Songs will include original compositions and small ensembles singing pop.”

While admission is by donation, tickets are available at The Open Book for a suggested price of $15 and at the door.
