Anyone wanting to check in on their own wellness will find a new book written by two women in Williams Lake a good place to start.
Finding Your Wellness is a companion to Finding Your Purpose, both penned by Cindi Saj and Christa Smith, co-founders of Guidebook Consulting.
Smith is executive director at Denisqi Services Society, where Saj is a clinical director. Saj is also an instructor at Yorkville University and Thompson Rivers University.
The two women hosted a book launch for Finding Your Wellness at the Williams Lake Library meeting room on Friday, Sept. 6 over the lunch hour.
Around a dozen women sat in a circle to listen and share ideas about wellness.
"Wellness is something everyone should have access to," Saj said. "We have written a fun book because we think there are some easy strategies that everyone can use."
Life feels better when it feels better, she added.
In the book they shares ideas about making work places better and focusing on employee wellness.
"Really it's up to us and figuring out what do we need to change," Smith said.
The book also delves into their own journeys and experiences with burn out and recognizing the symptoms.
"We talk about what happens when you don't listen to your body and mind," she said.
Tips in the book are there for people to take what resonates with them, Saj said.
"If you are not someone who likes to be visual, or you are not someone who likes to go walking, if you are not someone who likes doing positive affirmation, it doesn't have to be everyone's cup of tea," Saj said. "If you find one thing that's going to work for you then we've done our job."
Responding, a woman in the circle said she struggled to use the vision board suggestion in the book but enjoyed the walking and self-affirmation.
Both books are available at The Open Book in Williams Lake.
