Environment Canada is promising there will be sunny skies as a busy weekend unfolds in Williams Lake.
The high for Friday is 30 C, 28 C on Saturday and 27 C on Sunday.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, Christa Smith and Dr. Cindi Saj will be launching their second book, Finding Your Wellness: A guidebook to self-care, at the Cariboo Regional District Library
Williams Lake First Nation is hosting its Speaking Our Truth Competition Pow Wow Friday through Sunday at the Chief William Pow Wow Arbour.
Grand entries are slated for Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
There is an admission charge for each day or the whole weekend for anyone older than six years of age.
Lahal (stick games) and hand drum contests will also be part of the weekend as well as more than 40 vendors with food, arts, crafts and more.
Everyone is welcome.
In Williams Lake, the 45th annual harvest fair will take over the Williams Lake Curling Rink and surrounding property.
The fair goes Saturday and Sunday, with cash admission only at the gate. Children five years of age and under get in free.
Doors open at 9 a.m. both days and there is a Rotary pancake breakfast both days beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Stampede Grounds upper parking lot.
Sunday will see the first-ever zucchini races at the harvest fair
Also on Sunday, Williams Lake Daybreak Rotary will be holding its Kenducky Derby at the harvest fair at noon.
Rubber ducks will be hoisted up into the air and dropped onto a huge bulls-eye. The ducks closest to the centre mark will win prizes.
Over at the Legion, there will be the weekly meat draw at 4 p.m. Friday and on Saturday Texas Hold'em at noon, meat draw at 4 p.m. and the kitchen open 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
