It can seem a daunting task to have a landscape vibrant for growing food. Depending on your space, size and location will show you what is possible for both providing pollinators and a foodscape environment.

It's as simple as having someone with a background in landscape design to guide you, or letting your own creative instincts go where they may, can get you started.

The Sooke Garden Club's May speaker, Joshua Clae Wagler, is the founder of Edible Landscapes Design Ltd. Having been raised in a family of farmers, foodies and nature lovers, Joshua pursued a degree in urban studies as well as permaculture design, where he travelled the world learning sustainable design procedures. He is based in Victoria and leads his team by creating edible ecosystems that will regenerate the land and feed future generations.

“Our fragile food supply chain has faced significant challenges in recent years, from pandemics to climate-driven disasters like floods and fires," Wagler said. "These disruptions have sparked a surge in local food interest, while also presenting unique gardening challenges. Whether you live in an apartment or on an acreage, your environment is bursting with potential.”
