On Sunday, May 25 Royal Canadian Legion Branch 293 celebrated their own with a buffet lunch followed by an awards ceremony.
Margaret Groeneveld, a Legion member was MC for the afternoon.
Pins marking the years for affiliate voting were presented to to Don Diemert who received a 25-year pin.
Associate members: a 25-year pin went to Arlene Scruton, a 30-year pin to Joseph Barr, 35-year pin to Lorna Tetrault and Margaret Groeneveld, a 45-year pin to Larry Bartlett, Dale McKean and Gail Bridge and a 50-year pin and medal to John McDowall.
Ordinary members receiving pins were 25 years Tim Murphy, 30 years Joe Pyrczak, 35 years Ralph Mortensen and 40 years Peter A. Burton.
A 65-year pin and bar were presented to Richard Eastman and James Melloy.
The Poppy Bar and Medal were presented to Shannon Doré, the Secretary Bar and Medal to Judy Eyford and Executive Committee and Medal to Joe Pyrczak.
The Legionnaire of the Year Award was presented by vice president Jenny Neuwirth to a very deserving Helen Helm.
Legion member Willem Groeneveld presented a plaque with names from the past Legionnaire of the Year Awards to Legion vice president Jenny Neuwirth so that it can be hung in the hall and all can see the recipients over the past years.
