Easter festivities started early in the lakecity Saturday with the Rose Lake/ Miocene 4-H Club’s annual Easter Petting Zoo and Cake Walk.
Dozens of lakecity families turned out to Boitanio Mall for the event, on from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., to enjoy the Easter spirit while supporting the 4-H Club. Farm animals of all kinds were available to pet including a cow, goats, ducks and dogs, much to the delight of the children in attendance.
Also held at the event, 4-H Club members encouraged one another and their visitors to try their hand at a musical chairs-style cake walk, with goodies baked by the 4-H Club families. Face painting was also available leading to many happy and colourful children.

Organizers, including Rose Lake/Miocene 4-H Club’s president Jennifer Tritten, were happy to see so many people come out to support their club. Tritten feels that it’s important for the community to support the club due to the life lessons it teaches children.
“It teaches kids many lessons that they can use their entire life, like independence, doing book work and public speaking, which is a big one,” Tritten said.
She encouraged everyone to come on out to the event as there was lots of cake and fun to be had.
