A volunteer organization and town staple commemorated a big milestone with the community on June 21.
Princeton Ground Search and Rescue (GSAR) celebrated 25 years of dedication, teamwork and support by hosting an anniversary event with the community. Even with cool and cloudy weather, the celebration was still a success, as the public helped honour the people and stories that have shaped the organization over the last quarter-century.
"Thank you to our amazing community for showing up to our 25th-anniversary event this past weekend," Princeton GSAR stated. "Regardless of the weather, we all had a great time celebrating with everyone who came."
The family-friendly celebration had food, drinks, snacks, demos, games and activities for everyone to enjoy. The community also had a chance to meet the hardworking individuals who make up the Princeton GSAR team, as well as explore the equipment they use.
"Congrats on your 25th anniversary," the British Columbia Search and Rescue Association stated. "Thanks for all you do."
Princeton GSAR thanked volunteers for prepping the hall and displays, Mayor Spencer Coyne for his speech and past members who showed up and shared memories of their time with the team.
They also thanked its sponsors, the Community Foundation of the South Okanagan, Similkameen for Neighbourhood Grant, CTI Construction Chieftek Inc. and Kal Tire for making the event possible.
"Here's to another 25 years of serving this wonderful community," Princeton GSAR stated.
