Langford Station buzzed with activity on Saturday, June 14, as the annual Change-Makers Gathering Festival celebrated Indigenous culture and knowledge.
The festival offered an immersive experience for attendees, fostering connections with Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers through music, dance, arts and traditional food.
This year's theme, "Small families grow into big families," emphasized the power of small actions to create significant change.
The festival featured activities for all ages, guided by the Indigenous principles of sharing and guiding.
Organizers from Indigenous Communications Ltd. highlighted the importance of the teaching, stating that every small step creates a ripple effect, making a difference even if it's not immediately apparent.
The festival showcased vibrant drum and dance performances, a powerful hip-hop show, an Elder-led cedar weaving workshop and a market brimming with Indigenous artisans.
A free flow of bannock tacos and welcoming smiles were shared amongst everyone in attendance.
