Local artists Tatiana Petrov and Lainey Benson are teaming up to support the Osprey Community Foundation through a unique fundraising art exhibition and sale. Now on display in the upstairs hallway at 466 Josephine St., the collection features evocative ceramics by Petrov alongside luminous paintings by Benson.
The exhibition is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will remain on view through the fall of 2025.
Seventy-five per cent of all art sale proceeds will go directly to Osprey’s Community Fund.
As a former Osprey board member, Petrov’s connection to the foundation runs deep.
“I see this as a way to bring together my love for ceramics and my commitment to community,” she says. “I believe art can help shape more than vessels — it can help shape a stronger, more connected place.”
Petrov is the artist behind Terra Gora Ceramics, a studio known for large-scale work formed in the Kootenay mountains. A graduate of Kootenay Studio Arts, she brings a grounded, earthy aesthetic to the exhibition.
The Osprey Community Foundation was created by and for the people of Nelson and surrounding areas in 2000. This year marks their 25th anniversary and their consistent mission remains simple yet powerful: to support community initiatives now and into the future. Donations to Osprey’s Community Fund are invested and the generated income is annually granted to a wide variety of local community service programs and projects.
"We are deeply grateful for donors like Tatiana and Lainey who find creative ways to give back," says Tina Choi, executive director of the foundation. "There are so many ways to give. For good. Forever."
